Balcony tomatoes, season two
Last year I squeezed eight plants into small pots and got a lot of leaves and very few tomatoes. This year: three plants, 30-litre containers, and a lot more patience.
What changed
Bigger pots meant the soil stopped drying out by mid-afternoon. I watered deeply every second day instead of a little every evening, and added a slow-release feed once the first trusses set.
Next year
A cherry variety for the windy corner, and a proper trellis instead of the bamboo canes that kept tipping over in storms.
